MODALITY OF INTERVENTION THROUGH OPERATIONAL RENTAL
Operational rental, also called operating lease, is an opportunity for businesses to take advantage of new or used assets for their business without being forced to buy them entirely, but only by paying a fixed, periodic fee.
By no means should the operating rental formula be confused with leasing, although apparently similar.
The first difference, lies in the certainty of the costs of operating rental, as there are no additional costs, while in the variables associated with leasing; in addition, regulations stipulate that assets acquired through operating rental should not be entered in the balance sheet in the statement of assets and liabilities, precisely because they represent a service, but as an instrumental fee for the use of the asset itself.
The second difference is presented on the eventual final purchase of the asset: if the user of the asset subject to operating rental, decides to purchase it at the end of its use, the only comparison with the rental company would concern on the state of preservation and efficiency of the asset, while in the case of leasing the time would be longer (due to the need for depreciation of the asset) and the economic result would be much more onerous (longer time and higher installments, as well as total absence of expenses incidental to the management of the asset).
- Evaluation of capital goods needed for the business
- Rental of new and used capital goods for businesses
- possibility of using an asset that you do not own;
- there is no need to tap corporate cash for the purchase;
- one has defined and certain costs;
- one maintains one’s debt capacity (there is also no reporting to the central risk center).
- deductibility of the value of fees for IRAP and IRES purposes;
- deduction for VAT purposes;
- exclusion of assets subject to operating leases from sector studies;
- it is a service and not an asset that, if purchased, would have insisted on the company’s balance sheet.
- flexibility related to contracts of use;
- complete absence of impairment of the asset;
- disposal at the expense of the rental company.
*Given the variability in the funding process, and the need to consult with external partners, the timing of project evaluation and validation is variable.
